This week marks a great milestone for Freedom Fibre who have connected the first customer in their home town of Irlam, Manchester.
Irlam and Cadishead boast a rich industrial and farming heritage with many industrial parks, small businesses, local shops and residents who will now be able to benefit from Freedom Fibre’s lightning-fast, full fibre broadband network. Freedom Fibre are planning to announce additional areas to their Greater Manchester rollout plans in the coming months.
Speaking to the team about his broadband requirements, tech lover Mark told Freedom Fibre that he’s been desperate for a full fibre service in Cadishead. With a busy household of four, Mark has over 12 devices regularly competing for connectivity and would often have drop-outs as his previous service struggled to cope with the demand.
Keen to access greater and more reliable download and upload speeds capable of keeping up with his internet-enabled household, Mark booked his installation through TalkTalk as soon as Freedom Fibre let him know the network was live on his street. Straight away Mark was seeing lightning-fast speeds of 670Mb/s when plugged directly into his new router, and 350Mb/s across devices using the Wi-Fi connection.
When asked about the installation and his experience with Freedom Fibre, Mark said:
“I am absolutely over the moon with the install, the guys were amazing, so polite and cleared up after themselves. They also went above and beyond and helped me to swap over my Wi-Fi name and password to make sure all my devices stayed connected to the Wi-Fi and saved me a long job of adding them all to the new network. I would highly recommend Freedom Fibre to anyone.”
The Irlam and Cadishead build is a key project for the Freedom Fibre team. As the location of its Head Office, and previously home to TalkTalk’s offices, it was very important to CEO Neil McArthur to ensure this area was part of their full fibre network roll-out across the North West. Commenting on the milestone, Neil McArthur said:
“I'm delighted we’ve been able to bring full fibre broadband to Irlam and Cadishead. A large contributor behind the UK Government’s target for gigabit-broadband available nationwide by 2030, is the economic benefits fast and reliable connectivity brings to an area and the UK as a whole. Delivering this – among many other benefits including futureproofing homes and keeping families connected ready for the copper switch-off - to Irlam is a goal that has been close to my heart for many years.”
If you’re interested in connecting to our full fibre network, please register your interest and we’ll let you know if the service is available now, or if it’s coming soon.
